The Apothecary
The Apothecary incorporates Cardiff Herbal Practice where you can have a consultation with a medical herbalist or get over the counter advice, and from where we can dispense a range of dried herbs and tinctures.
Consulting Herbalist: Michele Daramat has an honours degree in herbal medicine and is a member of the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy (CPP) a professional membership organisation of phytotherapists that sets the highest standards of practice in herbal medicine http://phytotherapists.org
Before studying herbal medicine Michele was a practising clinical aromatherapist for 24yrs and is a founder member of The Register of Medical Herbalists
Michele also makes herbal products and holds small teaching workshops making herbal creams, ointments, syrups, oxymels, vinegars and infused oils. Michele is also available for talks and herb walks.
Consultations : Herbal medicine is a holistic treatment that seeks to find the underlying cause of disease and ill health rather than concentrating on symptomatic relief and is therefore tailored specifically to each person.
In order to determine this, the first consultation may last 1–11/2 hrs. to get to know you and evaluate your physical, mental and emotional status, a detailed medical history is taken along with a physical examination, blood pressure and pulse readings.
Treatment is in the form of high quality, concentrated plant tinctures. Herb teas, tablets, creams or ointments may also be prescribed along with dietary and lifestyle advice.
At the end of your first consultation your herbal medication will be dispensed for you. You will be given enough for 2 weeks when you will need to return for a follow-up consultation to see how you are getting on and discuss on going treatment
Rates:
1st Consultation £55.00 (approx. 60 - 90 mins)
Follow up consultations £35.00 (approx 30 mins)
Herbal Tinctures approx. £8.50 per week
Dried herbs £ 8.00 per 100g
Creams/ointments £7.50 per 60ml
Supplements - when necessary I may recommend supplements which cost extra. Although these costs vary I supply them at a discount to the recommended retail price
